Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 October 2026

Muslims Planet (“we”, “us”) runs the website muslimsplanet.com and the Muslims Planet apps for Android and iOS. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It applies to the website and the apps alike.

In short: you can use almost everything without an account. If you create one, we keep what you save so it follows you across devices. We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and you can delete your account at any time.

1. Using Muslims Planet without an account

Reading the Quran, prayer times, Qibla, duas, hadith, the 99 Names, tasbih and the other tools work without signing in. Your choices (settings, bookmarks, Salah log, tasbih counts, last-read position) are then stored only on your device — in your browser’s local storage or the app’s storage — and never leave it, except as described below.

2. Information we collect

Account information

If you create an account, we store:

  • your email address, and a password (stored only as a secure hash), if you sign up with email;
  • or, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the email address and name that provider shares with us (with Apple you can choose to hide your email);
  • a display name, which you can change in your profile.

What you save while signed in

So it’s available on all your devices, we store:

  • bookmarks of ayahs, surahs, duas and hadith;
  • your Salah tracker log (which prayers you marked as prayed, and when);
  • tasbih items, goals and counts;
  • your last-read position in the Quran;
  • your settings — including your prayer-time location (latitude, longitude and place name) if you set one, calculation method, and display preferences.

Community features

  • Tasbih Chains and Quran Khatams you create or join: the title and intention you write, your contributions, and the display name shown to other participants. Public chains and khatams can be seen by anyone with the link.
  • Global Quran reading count: when you read, the app records which ayahs were read that day to show the worldwide total. This uses a random identifier created on your device (and your account, if signed in) so the same ayah isn’t counted twice; only totals are shown publicly.

Location

Prayer times and the Qibla direction need your location. We ask for permission first, and you can enter a city by hand instead. Your coordinates are used on your device to calculate times. To show a place name, they are sent to a location-lookup service. If you are signed in, the location you chose is saved with your settings (see above). We don’t track your location in the background.

Camera (apps)

The Qibla AR view uses your camera to draw the direction over the live picture. The video is processed on your device only; it is never recorded, stored or uploaded.

Notifications (apps)

If you turn on prayer reminders, they are scheduled on your device from your prayer times. We don’t send them from a server and don’t collect a push token for them.

Usage analytics

To understand which features are used and fix problems, we use an analytics service on the website and in the apps. It records things like pages and screens viewed, session length, app version, device type, approximate country (from your IP address), and a few actions — for example playing a recitation, opening a live stream or sharing. We don’t send your name, email or what you write to analytics. The apps don’t use the advertising ID.

Technical data

Like any website, our servers and network providers receive your IP address and browser details with each request, and keep short-lived logs for security and to keep the service running. Signed-in sessions use cookies that are needed for sign-in to work.

3. How we use it

  • to provide the features you use, and keep your saved items in sync across devices;
  • to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction for your location;
  • to run community features such as Tasbih Chains, Khatams and the global reading count;
  • to understand usage, improve the app and fix bugs;
  • to keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

We don’t sell your personal information, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers. We don’t send marketing emails; the only emails you get are for your account (such as confirming your address or resetting your password).

4. Services we rely on

We work with trusted service providers that process data on our behalf or when you use a feature that relies on them:

  • account sign-in and the secure database that stores what you save;
  • website and app hosting, network and media delivery;
  • usage analytics;
  • Google or Apple, if you choose to sign in with them;
  • a location-lookup service that turns coordinates into a place name;
  • Quran audio providers — recitations, radio and live streams play directly from their servers, which see your IP address like any website you visit.

Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy. Some are based outside your country, so your data may be processed in other countries, including the United States.

5. Sharing

Apart from the providers above, we share personal information only if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users or the service. What you post in a public Tasbih Chain or Khatam (its title, intention and your display name) is visible to others.

6. How long we keep it

  • Account data and what you save: until you delete it or delete your account.
  • Data stored only on your device: until you clear it or uninstall the app.
  • Analytics data: kept by our analytics provider for a limited period (at most 14 months).
  • Server logs: a short time, for security and troubleshooting.

7. Deleting your account and data

You can ask us to delete your Muslims Planet account and all the data linked to it:

  • email [email protected] from the email address on your account, with the subject “Delete my account”;
  • we confirm the request and delete the account within 30 days.

This removes your profile, bookmarks, Salah log, tasbih data, settings, and your membership of Tasbih Chains and Khatams. Chains and Khatams you created are deleted too. Ayahs you read stay in the global total only as anonymous counts, no longer linked to you. Short-lived server logs expire on their own.

You can also remove individual items yourself at any time — bookmarks, Salah entries, tasbih items — from inside the app or website, and clear on-device data in your browser or phone settings.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict how we use it. To do any of these, email [email protected]. You can also turn off location access, camera access and notifications at any time in your device settings.

9. Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS), passwords are stored as secure hashes, and our database only lets each account read and change its own private data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will act promptly if anything goes wrong.

10. Children

Muslims Planet is meant for a general audience and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without a parent’s consent. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes we’ll also let you know in the app or on the website.

12. Contact

Questions about this policy or your data: [email protected].
